Humanitarian Photography in crisis areas

Description

I want to talk to you about humanitarian photography. It may seem a contradiction to say that photography is humanitarian since it is taken by a human being and is supposed to be sensitive and caring about life.

I have a great desire to transform what I experienced in a flash of my life, about ten years ago, into something that will last for a long time and help those who want to continue with the same enthusiasm.

Creating value is my goal and doing this through training is a mission. Humanitarian photography has precise rules, and the greatest incentive to engage in this field is to be prepared beforehand, and then to leave every emotion, every detail, every shot to the moment of the photo shoot and the shooting in the field; each discipline has its own rules which, once assimilated, are then regularly applied to the situations that arise.

This is how many human beings can be saved and helped.

My experience on world crisis for HOPE International, AVSI, AMICI DI SILVANA NGO, COOPI has focused in countries like Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kosovo, Benin, Nigeria... Areas where there is only one way to survive, not wearing a gun and paying attention to human relations. It's about building a relation with NGO's, local and international organisations in the field, preparing your cameras but not only that… Getting ready to participate in survival in extremes conditions… And moreover trying to create a sense of responsibility and a more human point of view than the photograph itself.
