About your local photographer
I started my professional life as a sociologist before using photography as a means to communicate the stories I was seeing. I now try to capture the true moments in life from behind the lens.My lucky break came whilst recovering from a boating accident that left my spine so damaged, doctors feared I may never walk again. Desperate for a solution to the chronic pain, I headed South to the African sun, armed with a Canon Eos 5 and a huge bag of film. The images I captured on a tobacco farm in Zimbabwe during the land invasions of 2000, formed my first exhibition at the Zimbabwe High Commission in London. Tipped as a ‘Shooting Star’ by the British Journal of Photography, I continued to work with international humanitarian organisations such as WaterAid, CARE, and Médecins Sans Frontières. My images bringing awareness to major social issues and gracing the covers of international newspapers and magazines.
In 2009, I bought a crumbling riad in the ancient Marrakech medina and started taking customers off the beaten track to places only a local knows on my bespoke Photo Tours. Now a mother and based in France, I split my time between running Photo Experiences in Morocco and selling my photographs as PhotoArt.
