Description

This is the ultimate thoroughbred racehorse photography course at the centre of the Racing world  - Newmarket.

This not to be missed location experience is suitable for photographers of all levels and will appeal to both horse and photography lovers alike.

Course Content

For hundreds of years the best racehorses in the world have been trained on the stunning gallops of Newmarket and this course offers some amazing opportunities to get up close to these beautiful athletes. There is nothing quite like being on the gallops just after dawn with literally hundreds of racehorses gathering around you. The early morning light can be stunning.

The actual photography course is on Thursday 31st October with a 6:30 / 7am start. There is also an optional group dinner the Wednesday night before in Newmarket on the 30th. ( This not included in the course fee and will cost £20 or so per head). It’s a great chance to meet up with the group and discuss the details of and look forward to the following day.

31st October - 6:30am

After the optional overnight hotel stay there is an early morning start to head off for a morning photographing on the many gallops in Newmarket. The first strings of horses gather just after dawn for their morning workout and you will be there to capture them with your camera often just a few feet away from the fastest and highest prized racehorses in the world. I will be there next to you throughout, giving you all the technical and practical advice you need to capture some stunning images as whatever your level of photography.

It’s a magical place to be as you are surrounded by millions of pounds of racehorses as they go through their morning’s work and exercise.

Newmarket has gallops spread across all parts of the town and we will visit many of them throughout the morning, giving you many opportunities to capture some amazing images.

You will then pay an exclusive visit to the fabulous Bedford House Stables of trainer Charlie Fellowes for a fabulous private photo tour.

Bedford House was the home of double Derby winning trainer Luca Cumani until his recent retirement and is thought by many to be one of the most beautiful stables in Newmarket. Charlie Fellowes has now taken over at Bedford House and you will be able to photograph freely as the early morning horses and riders return from the gallops and as the staff prepare for the second / third  strings of horses to head out to the gallops.

This is a unique opportunity to witness and photograph a leading trainer and yard at work where you can get some great close up images of the horses and the staff at work at stunning location where photographers are not normally allowed.

We will then head back down to the gallops and follow a group of Charlie's horses as they head down for their morning work.

The Newmarket experience continues with an opportunity to experience the atmosphere and photograph at the famous bloodstock auctioneers - Tattersalls.

They will be holding holding their Autumn Horses In Training Sale and this is a great opportunity to photograph young thoroughbreds at really close quarters as they prepared to perfection and paraded for sale for hundreds of thousands and sometimes millions of pounds !

This really is fabulous finale to your Newmarket experience.

Due to the early 6:30am start on 31st October I have reserved a number of hotel rooms at a 3* hotel in central Newmarket on the 30th October. This is on top of the course fee and is payable at check-in.  Please let me know if you require a room at the time of booking.
