Description
Join photographer Rob Knight on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, and take advantage of his ten years of teaching experience in this beautiful country. The Central Pacific coastal region is a transitional area between the wet forests fo the south and the dry forests of the north. Because of this combination, the region boasts 60% of the biodiversity of the entire country.
This photography tour and workshop will introduce you to the best Costa Rica has to offer. Starting with the locally owned boutique hotel where you will stay. This mountain side ocean view gem is in the forest adjacent to the Carara National Park. You’ll enjoy home cooked meals, air conditioned room, and wifi access throughout the property. Chances are you’ll see toucans, scarlet macaws, monkeys, and more as you sip your morning coffee!
Rob’s knowledge of the area will serve you well as you set out each day. Daily excursions are designed to introduce you to the people and culture of Costa Rica, while maximizing your opportunities to capture once-in-a-lifetime photos.
You will visit two national parks along with experienced local guides. Our guides know where and when to get off of the mail trails in order to find the rare wildlife hidden deep in the forest. All the while, Rob will work with you to make sure you maximize your opportunities with the best photographic techniques.
Some of the other highlights of the trip are visits to small villages in the area where we’ll find beautiful wildlife living alongside the friendly local people. There are fishing villages, mountain towns, and more. You will also visit some of the most famous surfing towns on the coast. This exciting part of the culture offers a challenging opportunity to dial in your camera’s autofocus settings. Rob call this “photographic cross training”, and he believes it is good practice for birds in flight and other nature subjects. Not to mention it’s just plain fun!
Rob is an Adobe Certified Expert in Lightroom, and he will offer demonstrations and guidance for post processing your images throughout the week. You’ll have ample opportunity to share images and learn from your fellow photographers as well.
Rob has designed this trip to maximize your time in the field, and minimize your time riding from location to location. You can unpack your suitcase and relax without moving from hotel to hotel each night. We want you to focus on your immersive experience and you’re photography.
You have two opportunities to join us in 2020. We hope to show you around our favorite country and help you make great photos along the way!
